South Florida Backyard Nectar

Mango

Triple Sec Seacrest

History

From Gary Zill's breeding program, an Edward seedling originally named Seacrest after Seacrest Boulevard in Boynton Beach, later marketed as "Triple Sec" for its citrus-liqueur-like flavor.

Taste profile

Rich and sweet with pronounced citrus and spice notes, often compared to fresh-squeezed tangerine juice - fiberless, firm, and very juicy.

Growing habits

A vigorous tree with a dense canopy; young trees tend to produce more male flowers, with the female-to-male ratio improving as the tree matures (worth knowing if fruit set seems slow at first). Mid-season. Notable for holding up well after ripening - it resists going overripe better than most mango varieties, giving a longer usable window.

Shipping

Ships reasonably well. Better shelf life and resistance to overripening than most fiberless mango varieties, making it more forgiving to handle.
