Selected by Walter Zill of Boynton Beach, Florida, in the 1980s, believed to be a cross between Carrie and Irwin. Named after Wayne Pickering, a longtime customer of Zill's nursery.
Taste profile
Firm, low-fiber flesh with an intensely sweet, coconut-forward flavor some describe as tasting like a pina colada.
Growing habits
A true dwarf "condo" mango - can be kept as small as 6 feet with pruning, with a bushy, compact habit that suits containers well. Early season, typically June to July, with excellent anthracnose resistance. Needs patience: fruit picked too early only shows a mild version of its flavor.
