History
A South Indian dessert mango grown commercially across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and neighboring states, later introduced to Florida as a dwarf, very-late-season variety valued for extending the local mango season well past when most other cultivars finish.
Taste profile
Fiberless, deep yellow-orange flesh with a rich, aromatic, Indian-spice flavor and a touch of resin - intense enough that it can be a lot for someone used to milder mangoes.
Growing habits
Naturally dwarf, slow-growing, and compact - a good container tree. Very late season, typically ripening August into September and sometimes October, among the last mangoes to finish in a Florida yard. Good disease and fungus resistance.
Shipping
Ships reasonably well. Firmer flesh and a longer shelf life than most fiberless varieties makes it more forgiving to handle than soft, fast-ripening types like Carrie or Julie.
