South Florida Backyard Nectar

Mango

Lemon Zest

History

First propagated in Boynton Beach, Florida by Gary Zill under the planting name #27-1 and released in 2011. A seedling of Lemon Meringue and a sibling to Orange Sherbet - a name mix-up between the two early on has caused lingering confusion among collectors about which is which.

Taste profile

A citrus-forward flavor with a lemon-candy aroma, richer and more complex than its parent Lemon Meringue, with juicy, fiberless yellow flesh and a dense, melting texture.

Growing habits

Starts as a slow grower during establishment before picking up speed; not a dwarf variety, so it needs real space over time. Consistently yields significantly larger fruit than Lemon Meringue, often double the size.
