Mango
Butter Cream
History
A newer selection from Gary Zill's breeding program in Boynton Beach, believed to be an Edward seedling, available since 2017.
Taste profile
Rich and sweet with subtle tartness and citrus notes, in deep yellow-orange, fiberless flesh with a genuinely soft, buttery texture that lives up to the name.
Growing habits
A low-vigor tree suited to smaller yards, with good resistance to both bacterial black spot and anthracnose. Mid-season, June to July. Long, slender branches give it a somewhat crooked look in windy conditions. First bloom tends to lean heavily male, which doesn't seem to hurt eventual fruit production. Fruit has bumpy, uneven, greenish-yellow skin - not a variety judged by its looks.
