History
Selected in South Florida, likely a cross between Edward and Carrie, and named after Angela Whitman, wife of noted rare fruit collector Bill Whitman and a trustee of Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. Featured as a Curator's Choice mango at Fairchild's International Mango Festival.
Taste profile
Rich, deeply sweet flavor in the Alphonso class, with apricot, resin, and stone-fruit notes and a touch of spice - tangerine-orange, fiberless flesh similar in style to Carrie but generally considered smoother.
Growing habits
A semi-dwarf tree, roughly 10-15 feet at maturity, easier to keep compact than most mango cultivars. Early season, which lets it mature before Florida's heaviest summer rains. Highly resistant to anthracnose, making it a reliable choice even in humid conditions.
