Finger Lime hybrid
UF SunLime
History
One of two finger lime cultivars bred and released by the University of Florida's Citrus Research and Education Center (the other being UF RedLime), developed to give Florida growers an HLB (citrus greening)-tolerant specialty citrus crop.
Taste profile
The signature "citrus caviar" texture - cylindrical fruit packed with round juice vesicles that burst individually when cut, with a tangy flavor blending lemon, lime, and grapefruit notes.
Growing habits
Makes a medium-sized bush, around 8 feet tall at 7 years old in UF's own trials. Flowers sporadically through the year with a main bloom in February-March. A mature 6-year-old tree can produce around 150 fruits.
