Lemon
Eureka
History
Developed in Los Angeles around 1858 from seedlings likely descended from Italian lemon stock; quickly became one of the two leading commercial lemon varieties in the US, alongside Lisbon.
Taste profile
Classic bright, tart lemon flavor - highly acidic juice and an aromatic, oily rind, the flavor most people picture when they think "lemon," distinct from the sweeter, milder Meyer lemon.
Growing habits
Everbearing - flowers, developing fruit, and ripe lemons can all be on the tree simultaneously, giving harvests essentially year-round rather than one seasonal crop. Nearly thornless, vigorous, and precocious (bears young).
