Discovered as a grove sport by commercial grower Mike Hunt in Homestead, Florida, in 1989. Likely a seedling of Monroe, though its pollinating parent is uncertain - its black skin points to Mexican-type heritage, but its leaves lack the anise scent typical of that group.
Taste profile
Rich, buttery, and nutty, often ranked among the best-tasting Florida avocados, with 10-15% oil content - notably higher than most Florida (West Indian-type) avocados.
Growing habits
Type B flowering; bushy, rounded tree of medium vigor. Harvest runs November through January.
